Initials Shortlisted for 2016 UK Business Awards

Last Friday saw the final judging and awards ceremony for the 2016 UK Business Awards held at the London Park Plaza, Riverbank Embankment. Following the first stage of judging earlier in the month, the entries submitted by Initials were deemed to be 'outstanding' by the judges, and as a result the agency was fortunate enough to be shortlisted as a finalist in two categories – Best SME and Best Business Innovation.

Uniquely for an awards ceremony, all finalists were asked to present their entry in person to a panel of esteemed judges followed by a Q&A session in the morning. The panel then deliberated over the scores during lunch (the scoring system set by the Cranfield University School of Management), with the final award winners being announced in the afternoon.

Jamie Matthews, Initials CEO, said "Although we were pipped at the post for the ultimate awards, the whole process has been extremely beneficial for the agency, allowing us to reflect on what our clients value in our offering. We were up against some very stiff competition, and were proud to have been nominated as finalists in both categories (one of four companies in the SME category and one of five in the innovation category)."

Nick Presley, Executive Creative Director, added "Making the finals of these awards marks a line in the sand for the agency when set against our 36 month growth plan. Three years ago, we embarked on a journey which has seen the business transform into one the UK's most successful agencies in its sector. The introduction of a new vision and proposition together with a collection of values and behaviours that our 50 colleagues really buy into has delivered tangible business results for our clients."

Managing Director Richard Barrett concluded " Our 'Uninhibited Thinking' proposition being delivered by a combination of 'seasoned brains and youthful vigour' is clearly gaining traction with new and existing clients. In the last 12 months we pitched on 25 opportunities, and were fortunate enough to secure 21 of them, making an 80% pitch win rate. This has translated into new income opportunities, allowing us to over-invest in talent across the agency."

Earlier in the year, Initials celebrated its 10 year anniversary by collecting its 50th award. The agency is looking forward to the next 10 years with a spring in its step. Roll on 2017!
